General Guidelines
If you would like to submit to the Orbis Journal of World Affairs, please email your manuscript to submissions@orbisjournal.org.
Please address your email with the subject line of “Last_Name – Academic/Commentary Submission”. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@orbisjournal.org.
Guidelines – Academic Research
Research pieces will be peer reviewed
A length of 5,000 to 7,000 words is appropriate, the journal will consider longer manuscripts, but the above range is the preferred length.
Delete your name or any references that might identify you from the manuscript, to ensure that the author’s name is not released to the reviewers. Reviewers’ names will likewise not be shared with the author.
Include a cover letter.
Please format your manuscript with the below guidelines:
12 pt. Aptos font; Double spaced; Page Numbers; Include a summary of 150 to 200 words.
Guidelines – Policy Commentary
Commentary pieces will be editorially reviewed
A length of 2,000 to 3,500 words is appropriate, the journal will consider longer manuscripts, but the above range is the preferred length.

What We Are Looking For
The Orbis Journal of World Affairs is adopting an innovative new format, featuring both peer-reviewed scholarly research and contributions from policymakers and practitioners. The unique partnership between FPRI and the Nunn School, combining a blend of rigorous academic scholarship with timely policy insight, promises to explore the most pressing issues in international affairs from multiple perspectives. Orbis will continue to deliver informative and insightful scholarship about foreign policy, national security, and geopolitics, with a particular focus on how emerging technologies are reshaping these fields.

By submitting this manuscript to Orbis, the author affirms that the work is original, has not been previously published in any form, and is not under consideration elsewhere. The manuscript will not be submitted to another publication while it is under review at Orbis.
