Eric Koob is a political scientist and research professional specializing in international affairs, security policy, and applied research operations. He currently serves as the Program and Operations Manager for the Center for Research on International Strategy and Policy at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In this role, he coordinates sponsored research initiatives, manages complex grants, develops program budgets and narratives, and oversees a broad portfolio of events, outreach efforts, and strategic communications. His work supports faculty-led research on contemporary global challenges and strengthens partnerships across academic, policy, and public-facing communities.

Eric also serves as the Managing Editor of Orbis: Journal of World Affairs – launched jointly between the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI), where he leads the journal’s relaunch with a renewed emphasis on policy-relevant, peer-reviewed scholarship. He manages editorial workflows, guides contributors through peer review and revision, and collaborates closely with the FPRI to shape the journal’s strategic direction.

In addition, Eric is a Part-Time Lecturer at Georgia Tech, designing and delivering asynchronous online coursework for Introduction to International Affairs, with a focus on making foundational IR theories accessible and engaging to early-career students.

His research interests include constructive and societal approaches to counterterrorism, international security cooperation, and the evolving role of regional institutions, with forthcoming work on the EU’s security engagement in the Asia-Pacific.

Eric holds an M.S. in International Affairs and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech. He is also a Certified Sommelier and a Global Leadership Fellow with the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.
