Jiayu Lai is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, with field specializations in international political economy and Southeast Asia. Her research interests include trade politics and the political economy of regulation.
Beyond her academic work, Lai serves as Associate Director of the Berkeley APEC Study Center and as Associate Managing Editor of Business and Politics. She is also a Senior Data Science and AI Fellow at UC Berkeley’s D-Lab. Prior to UC Berkeley, she received her bachelor’s degree from the School of International Relations at Sun Yat-sen University and her MA in international relations from the University of Chicago.
